What are the benefits of massage?
The benefits of massage are seemingly endless but research has proven it to improve circulation, provide pain relief, enhance the immune system, release chronic muscular tension, increase joint mobility or range of motion, improve posture, reduce blood pressure, reduce stress, reverse atrophy of muscles, reduce scar tissue, speed recovery time after injuries and alleviate both migraine and tension headaches.

Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage is performed with the client unclothed. However, you may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your comfort. You will be properly draped during the session so that only the part of your body being massaged will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be exposed?
After filling out a health history form, we will discuss your expectations for the session. This will determine which areas require massage. A typical full body session (one hour) will include your back, legs, feet, arms, hands, head, neck, shoulders, and face. If there is an area that you would prefer to be left out (i.e. ticklish feet), please let me know.

What should I do during the massage?
Relax. Many people close their eyes, relax, and sometimes even fall asleep. Others prefer to talk during the session. You should feel comfortable to ask questions about pressure, techniques used, or about the health benefits of massage. Never feel intimidated to communicate with me about anything that causes concern.

What techniques will be used in Pregnancy massage?
When receiving pregnancy massage you will be positioned on your side or in a semi-reclining position and supported with pillows. A variety of techniques will be integrated into creating a therapeutic, relaxing session. Depth of pressure is lighter and no invasive deep work is used.

Are there times during pregnancy when massage should be avoided?
Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from massage during their second and third trimester. It is not recommended to have massage in your first trimester. Women with high-risk pregnancies should consult their physician before receiving massage.
